Soulmask is an open-world sandbox survival game developed by Campfire Studio and published by Qooland Games. It was released in Early Access on Steam for PC on May 31, 2024. The Soulmask controller is popular for its customizable features, making gaming better for many users.
However, some people have problems getting the controller to work properly. These problems can include the controller not being recognized, connection issues, or erratic performance.
The Current State of Controller Support In Soulmask
Partial Compatibility: Soulmask allows you to use a controller, but the support is incomplete. While you can move and fight with a controller, navigating the menus is difficult.
Main Menu Only: The main problem is that you can only access the main menu with a controller. To manage your inventory, craft items, or interact with your clan, you are required to use a keyboard.
Basic Controls: Here’s a guide to the basic controls for Soulmask using an Xbox controller:
Left stick | Move |
Left stick click | Crouch |
Right stick | Aim |
Left bumper | Block with weapon or shield |
Right bumper | Attack |
Right trigger | Block with a weapon or shield |
Y button | Life Perception (scan for life nearby) |
B button | Roll |
A button | Jump |
X button | Interact |
D-pad | Switch between 1-5 on the quick bar |
View button | Main menu |
Remapping Limitations: You can’t remap these buttons or add extra actions. The left trigger, D-pad directions, and start button are not used.

Fixing Soulmask Controller Support Not Working
Here are some points to resolve controller support:
Third-Party Programs
Some players use third-party programs like Joy2Key or Xpadder to solve Soulmask controller issues. These programs let you map your controller buttons to keyboard keys, creating custom controller support.
Steam Deck
The upcoming Steam Deck might also help. Developers know that players want better controller support, and future updates might fix these issues.
