Robert Downey Jr. is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but this time he's playing a new character—Doctor Doom—in the upcoming movie "Avengers: Doomsday."
Famous for being Iron Man, RDJ will now be Victor von Doom, a major villain. This role is a big change from his previous hero role.
The movie is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are also working on "Avengers: Secret Wars." They are well-known for their work in the MCU.
Fans were both surprised and excited when RDJ appeared at San Diego Comic-Con wearing a Doctor Doom mask, revealing his new role.
RDJ's journey with Marvel began in 2008 with "Iron Man." He has played Tony Stark in 10 movies, ending with a heroic conclusion in "Avengers: Endgame."
Outside of Marvel, RDJ starred in "Oppenheimer" and the HBO mini-series "The Sympathizer," earning praise for his performances.
