To get cold resistance in monster hunter stories 2, there are possible 4 ways To avoid Frostbite in Monster Hunter Stories 2, you can use Hot Mist, craft cold-resistant armor, transfer Cold Res Genes to your Monsties, or equip Talismans from Melynx Inc.
1. Armor
Each location in Monster Hunter Stories 2 offers its own weapons and armor based on the monsters you encounter. Many armor pieces in Loloska offer cold resistance. To craft armor, you need to defeat enough local monsters to collect their drops. You will still need Hot Mist for your first expedition. Cold-resistant armor protects you from Frostbite but doesn’t help your Monsties.
2. Hot Mist
The easiest way to protect yourself and your Monsties from Frostbite is to get Hot Mist. You can buy Hot Mist from the shop in Kuan Village for 100 Zenny. However, it doesn’t last forever. You need to buy enough Hot Mist to cover your explorations in Loloska if you don’t have other cold resistance.

3. Cold Res Genes
To permanently protect your Monsties from Frostbite, you can modify their DNA. Monsters native to Loloska naturally possess cold resistance. While exploring, raid Monster Dens to snatch eggs from creatures like Logombi, Zamitros, and Popo.
These eggs often contain a Warming Gene. Utilize the Rite of Channeling to transfer these genes to your other Monsties, granting them lasting immunity against the cold.
4. Talismans
You can obtain cold resistance by purchasing Talismans from Melynx Inc. in exchange for Bottle Caps. Melynx Inc. offers various goods, including weapons, armor, and Talismans that provide different types of support.
The Breaker (M) & Cold Res Talisman enhances damage and grants cold resistance, making it ideal for preventing Frostbite in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
